CKeditor adds extra "<br />" to html configuration settings

Ckeditor defaults to adding breaks for carriage returns. This will the coding/decoding taking place in subsystems/config.php continually adds blank lines to html messages such as the error messages, etc...

    " inserted every time site configuration was saved. Removed deprecated function (split). Changed default CKeditor "source" display so it lloks as it did with FCKeditor (no funky indents or newlines before and after opening html tags)
