Bug: Ealerts modules needs some work to fully implement
Reported by dleffler | February 29th, 2012 @ 08:31 PM | in 2.0.8 (closed)
The Ealerts modules has sit idle since the preview releases...it should be worked on to implement common things like subscribing to blogs/blog posts, etc...
Initial work will be to implement it in the blog module.
Part of this work would be to disable it's use in many of the modules (initially?)

Consider a more intuitive interface, E-Alerts should:
- display a (simple) link on modules page (if e-alerts turned on) to quickly subscribe or unsubscribe to updates for that module. This would be implemented as a smarty function/plugin
- manage user subscriptions as a profile extension
- probably be available not only for the entire module, but also for an item?
- send either a simple message or entire body content, user selectable

- Assigned user set to dleffler
Will attempt to implement in news, blog, & filedownload initially...
Should have module/site settings to confirm e-alert before sending (current procedure), but might be nice to make it automatic

Perhaps the ealert subject needs to include the module name and not the new/updated item name with the item name at the beginning of the body.

Will change the subscription process to something more simple...a link at the top of the module for logged in users and a profile extension to manage subscriptions...instead of the double-opt-in from a list of all e-alert activated modules (which currently doesn't work).
