Feature Request - Theme & Extension repository
Reported by dleffler | August 13th, 2011 @ 07:34 PM | in 2.0.5 (closed)
It would be a good idea to have something in place by the stable release...a download page on the exponentcms.org site with extensions (themes, modules, etc...) And in turn, only ship 2.0 stable with one standard theme.
This would:
- keep us from possibly stomping on too many user mods since we only ship one theme with each upgraded version
- push people to the site to be reminded of updates, etc...
- allow quicker easier updates to the system without requiring a full upgraded version
What this also means, is we would have to update the extension upload(er) to ONLY place extensions in the current theme folder (which would also safeguard a stable system environment). E.g., mods to the installation would always/only/? be found in the themes folder.

- Title changed from Feature Request - Theme repository & All extesnions upload into current theme folder to Feature Request - Theme & Extension repository
The uploading of custom themes & modules to the theme folder portion has been moved to ticket #334
Most likely, the theme, module, & extension repositories would be filedownload modules on exponentcms.org set up as podcasts which would be accessed from inside exponentcms by pulling the podcast feed into several tabs (theme, patch, etc...) with a button/link that would automatically download and install that extension after getting user confirmation.
Perhaps this could also be extended to include version upgrades.

- Assigned user set to dleffler
Began a local implementation using the rss feed.
Will probably need to have a separate repository for the actual downloads and keep them off the exponentcms.org server.
