Problems with searching documentation and forums
Reported by peters@slx-online.biz | February 11th, 2015 @ 11:31 AM | in 2.3.5 (closed)
- When searching in the documentation, clicking to see a second page of search hits produces:
Not Found
The requested URL /search/search/search_string/featured+event/__utma/47371635.1590283390.1399901396.1422522450.1422540083.16/__utmz/47371635.1422540083.16.11.utmccn=(referral)|utmcsr=exponentcms.lighthouseapp.com|utmcct=/projects/61783/tickets/1193-menu-access-to-tabbed-text|utmcmd=referral/route_sanitized/1/page/2 was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Searching on forums is always taking me to the page showing patch information - see screen shot
-
If I click on the link "Exponent Content Management System" on this page I get Page Not Found
-
Searching for 'Featured Events' to see how this works - nothing found. (I have made an event "Featured" but no obvious change.)

- Tag set to forums, help
- Assigned user changed from expNinja to dleffler
- Milestone set to User issues
Regarding the 'forums' search, the search displays the forum 'posts' which contain the requested phrase (albeit not highlighted). You can click on the post title (first line) to see the entire post comments. If there are additional posts, there is a 'next' button at the bottom of the page. Because the 'phrase' event is on the 'patch notice' post which is the most recent, it appears at the top of the list.
Regarding the documentation, I'm unable to reproduce your error, I can pull up the additional pages of 'hits' without error.

Actually, when searching in the forum, the requested phrase is highlighted, but it is a very pale amber color and difficult to see...we'll see about correcting this.

Thanks. Here is a typical search that pulls up the error, shown in the attached screen shots. Happens every time, click on next page and Not Found error!
Thanks for clarification on the other.
Peter.

- State changed from new to open
- Milestone changed from User issues to 2.3.5
on docs.exponentcms.org we seem to be stripping the 'search_string' param from the paging links

Appears to be the result of our string sanitation to prevent security holes...doesn't occur when logged on as admin
