profile name not showing up

Reported by Patricia Van Roon | May 7th, 2012 @ 11:01 AM

When users log into the website, their profile name is not showing up in the upper right corner so they are unable to change their passwords as necessary. How do I fix this?

    • Tag set to permissions, users
    • Assigned user cleared.

The 'slingbar' menu ONLY appears for users which have at least one 'permission' set for a module/page, etc... or for admin users.

The preferred method would be to add a 'Login' module with the 'expanded' view to the theme or page which will give you a log-in widget or edit profile depending on whether you are logged in.

An easy work-around to give a slingbar would be to:
    1. create a new Group Account
    2. assign all users to that group
    3. manage group permission for say the "Home" page and give the new group a 'view' permission.

This is the way it is currently set up but I received an email from a
user indicating their name was not on the page in the upper right
corner where they could access their password. Is there something
else I need to do? I just checked the permissions and they seem to be
    correct.

The algorithm for displaying the 'slingbar' menu is the user is an admin or has at least one permission. Depending on the speed of the connection...the javascript is always at the bottom of the page and the slingbar is the last thing to run/load. This is the drop-down menu at the top of bottom of the window.

If you have a login module w/ the expanded view, it should appear where the input for username and password was
