Feature request - User Configured Site "Header"

Reported by dleffler | July 31st, 2011 @ 05:44 PM | in Release Candidate 2 (closed)

It would be VERY convenient to have some sort of configurable user settings for filling out the Site Header. The themes as "shipped" work for the "ExponentCMS" site, but must be manually edited to change the site name, etc..

This would make Exp, instantly usable "out of the box" without requiring any file editing or theme customizing. Also would alleviate "losing simple customizations" (Site Title changed by locally editing the default theme) as a result of an upgrade.

Perhaps this could be a revised tab on Site Configuration or on the Manage Themes page (stored in conf/config.php), with a modification to the existing themes to look for those values.

FWIW, the Retro theme header is a single graphic file named logo.png. The CoolWater theme header is a combination of a text title, subtitle and an icon backgroud.
