Feature request - Convert all widgets to smarty functions/blocks

Though most of our ui widgets (buttons, etc..) are/can be created with smarty, some of the larger ones (tabs, accodion) are not. To BEST be able to switch to jquery, it would behoove us to move the widget javascript out of the view and into a smarty function.
Not only would this keep the templates/views more theme friendly, it might allow optional widget selection (e.g., the tabview and accordion are very similar in markup)
