Feature request - Ability to copy/cut/paste items,etc... to a different module
Reported by dleffler | December 17th, 2011 @ 05:26 AM
Based on current work paradigms, you'd expect to be able to move things around by some sort of copy/cut/paste operation. The same would apply to pages, modules, and items. Some of the functionality already exists:
- Pages - we can already easily move pages around and send them to standalone (recycle bin) and restore them. However, there is no way to copy pages, unless we'd resurrect the old pagesets code.
- Modules - we can somewhat cut/paste modules by removing them to the recycle bin and then adding a module and pulling it from the recycle bin. However, there is currently no way to see everything in the recycle bin, unless you do it one module type at a time. Again, no way to copy a module (settings/configuration?)
- Items - we can only delete items, there is no recycle bin or any sort of copy/cut/paste operation. There is a hacked text module template that allows you to move text items from one module to another though.

Ref 'Modules' point above, we now can view entire recycle bin.
Ref 'Items' point above, we now have a 'Merge' button in all modules which shows when aggregated content is being displayed and allows you to move it into the displayed/current modules.

We've added a 'copy' item command to some modules like help & events (where it seems appropriate.
Might be nice to have a move module command which lists all the containers and when selecting a container would list all the modules within that container and then be able to select a destination container which also shows the page. This would esp. be important for themes which do NOT show all containers (e.g., extra sidebars, etc...)
